The Mirror I Couldn’t Escape

I thought I was done breaking.

But there’s a difference between collapsing…

and meeting the one who watched it happen.

That one?

Was my shadow.

Not a demon.

Not evil.Just… undigested pain in disguise.

The part of me I shoved down.

The one who remembered what I tried to forget.

The one who raged when I stayed polite.

The one who wanted to scream when I smiled and said “I’m fine.”

And when I finally sat with him?

He didn’t attack me.

He wept.

He showed me the rooms I never entered.

He showed me the father wounds, the buried grief, the guilt, the shame, the parts of me that still thought I wasn’t worthy of love or joy or peace.

He showed me every mask I wore — and why I put it on.

And I didn’t flinch.

I didn’t run.

I just sat there with him in the dark…

…and I stayed.

No healing technique.

No mantras.

No light.

Just presence.

And that — that was the real alchemy.

I stopped trying to fix myself.

I stopped trying to become something.

I let myself be the thing I had hidden.

And something shifted.

Not like fireworks.

Like earth.

Deep. Quiet. Unshakeable.

Because once you’ve loved your shadow, there’s nothing left to fear.

And now I ask YOU:

Have you met the part of you that’s still holding the memory?

Still holding the pain?

Still begging to be seen, not judged?

You don’t need to fight him.

You just need to sit with him.

Because sometimes, the one thing your shadow needed all along…

Was you.

Not as a savior.

But as a witness.
